Stage 3: Bargaining ("It's a tie!")

There's a diary on the Rec List currently titled "It's a tie."  Again, recall the Kübler-Ross cycle's Five Stages of Grief:

Stage 3: Bargaining

After the fires of anger have been blow out, the next stage is a desperate round of bargaining, seeking ways to avoid having the bad thing happen. Bargaining is thus a vain expression of hope that the bad news is reversible.

Sometimes the best you can do at this stage is point even more at the inevitable, even though this may well tip them into depression (which may well be a necessary move).  When they are in a bargaining mood, sometimes there are things you can offer them, such as support for change or new opportunities.

Yesterday, Hillary's campaign used every tactic possible to steal Obama's spotlight on one of the most historic nights our party has ever seen.  The media is pushing their "Dream Team," suggesting that Hillary's refusal to concede is an attempt at maintaining some type of political leverage.  All these attempts at post-game leverage (including "it's a tie!") are obvious forms of bargaining.

Just move ahead and leave it be.  In the words of Monty Python:

Funny, but I don't know about the image of Barack Obama having dismembered Hillary Clinton.

oh boy.  You know this isn't dailykos.

mydd has a lot of HRC supporters who will vote for Obama.

and yet rub it in.  Salt into the wound.

Sham diaries like those of TD and alegre (2.00 / 2)

make the entire site look bad. This is supposed to be a progressive blog, not one engaged in denial over the Democratic nominee for POTUS.

yes, it is a progressive blog

and I don't know how this diary helps at all with unity

Re: Sham diaries like those of TD and alegre (2.00 / 5)

I dont get how unity is such a one way street?

I see TD and Alegre trying to smash unity as long as they can.

If I call them out for embracing division I am accused of not pushing unity?

boggles the brain.....

Re: Sham diaries like those of TD and alegre (2.00 / 2)

because most people IGNORE them or MOCK them

get it?  I am a HRC supporter and I fucking ignore them.

they don't speak to me.  I am looking out for those that ARE like me, who will vote for Obama but are still sad and hurt.

Obama wasn't the only one to inspire people in this campaign.  Some of you were other supporters before Obama and it took some time to get over the hurt and disappointment when they dropped out.

As student guy has written and others who are a tad more in touch with the mydd community, be patient.

I'm perfectly in touch with the MyDD community. (1.50 / 2)

I just don't care much for those few who come here solely to turn the place into a pro-Hillary Daily Kos.

and so?  I don't like their diaries either.

so you resort yourself to their level, which is not unity.

I don't think you are in touch with mydd;  otherwise, you would waited a few days.

So follow your own advice (none / 0)

Based on your logic, if this thread is useless then let it go.

Since you ignore linfar and alegre, just be intellectually consistent and ignore this one as well.

It's not a rocket science.

Re: I'm perfectly in touch with the MyDD community (none / 0)

I appreciate your opinion.  We're getting attacked by some hateful people, plus we've got HRC supporters who are completely in sync with us, plus some reasonable ones on the fence, and some not-so-reasonable ones on the fence.

It's hard to address them all at the same time.  This is why trolls are so effective - someone will take a shot at the troll, graze a not-so-reasonable Hillary supporter who then hits back, making more people react and before you know it we're all in a big pie fight.

Daily Kos bashing as a crutch. (2.00 / 1)

I'm a MyDD user, not a dKos'er.  Been on MyDD far longer than I've been on DKos; MyDD came first, after all.

MyDD wasn't always an online satellite state of HillaryLand.  I've been here since the 2004 primaries, long before 2008's primary warriors showed up, and I'll still be here long after the fair-weather warriors have gone.

I was comparing your actions to dailykos posters.

And having respect for both candidates is something I've been doing.  How about you?

Re: Daily Kos bashing as a crutch. (2.00 / 2)

I have enough respect for the amazing accomplishments of both candidates that I don't need to resort to lies and half-truths to prop them up. Too bad that Alegre, TD and a few others don't see it the same way.

Re: Daily Kos bashing as a crutch. (none / 0)

a small, tiny minority on this blog does not excuse this diary.

so for those few people, it is okay to smear the hurt around for the majority of HRC supporters who will vote for obama?

that is cool by you?

sore winners is what I call it.

Why do you feel smeared by something obviously targeted toward a very specific and select few individuals?

That cartoon is not targeting them.  That cartoon is vicious BS designed to make Hillary look like what she did last night was unusual or weird in a primary season

It isn't.

Re: Daily Kos bashing as a crutch. (none / 0)

I mean no offense to you and the vast majority of HRC supporters here, and cole I specifically mentioned your name the other day as someone who is above the kind of hyper-partisan tactics that a few others are engaging in. My frustration is directed at a very small group, and they are not exclusively HRC supporters. My apologies if it seemed that I was referring to the larger community.

I don't think this diary is helpful or timely.  In fact, I think that it borderlines on rude and trollish.

I support this Diary (2.00 / 1)

Because it's true.

There is nothing over or under in this diary.

The world celebrated something special this morning, however HRC, TD, and Alegre decided otherwise.

For as many people claim they can't stand Obama, or hate him, you can take those feelings to store and buy some Kleenex.

You know why, because there are hundreds of thousands of passionate supporters for OBama.

Its no mistake that he gets 10K+ crowds whenever he wants.
Tom Brokaw made a GREAT point last night, what else in America draws those size of crowds?
Sports and Concerts right?

Who would have guessed that POLITICAL rallies would be included !
That 10-20 THOUSAND people would stop there regulary scheduled programs to rally with their peers for their future POTUS?

You can call those millions of people that went to rally's, volunteered and donated that they are cultists, koolaid drinkers, liberals, elites, etc,  but guess what those people, those Americans nominated the next POTUS by voting and caucusing for his delegates.

You can't take that from them, so stop begging them to wait for it.
